We are thrilled to welcome Rabbi Pivo to our congregation and eager to introduce him to our community. As such, we are working to make Rabbi Jeff and Lisa Pivo’s first Shabbat at EBJC special and will be promoting the service times in the “Welcome Kiddush” scheduled to follow the morning services on August 5th. We encourage all congegants to attend and meet the Pivos as well as to reconnect with each other and with the Shul.
The other event being planned is a smaller gathering for a fundraising dinner. The 613 Society Dinner will be held on Thursday, August 10th, in a private home and will have limited seating. With a couvert of $613 per couple, attendees can expect a more intimate experience to speak with the Pivos and show their support for EBJC. Donors at this level comprised a vital constituency in past years, and it is our intention to re-engage congregants who find this type of programming and involvement appealing.
We recently hosted a Re”Jew”Vination brunch, which raised money while also creating an energizing opportunity for congregants to gather. During the winter we also hosted programs that brought in funds, but not quite as much as we had anticipated. With the High Holidays on the horizon, there will be another request and we hope that congregants will continue to feel inspired and compelled to make a Kol Nidre pledge.
Supporting our Shul through participating in activities as well as by making direct donations, is something that happens throughout the year, not just during May through October.
Each congregant responds uniquely to the spiritual, educational, and social opportunities offered at EBJC. By identifying congregants interests and cultivating a motivation for donating we hope to create an environment where people enjoy making a difference and want to be a part of EBJC’s dynamic presence going forward. We understand that not every person will be inspired to attend every program, but if we reach congregants in ways that are meaningful to them, we will fortify our community and use this strength to carry EBJC forward.
With Rabbi Pivo’s arrival, we are looking forward to learning from him and excited about his spiritual leadership. The welcome weekend and 613 Society Dinner will provide a great kickoff to a wonderful transition. Our board of directors has been working together with renewed enthusiasm to create events and opportunities for everyone. We encourage you to share our joy with friends and family who may be interested in joining us on this journey.
